An investigation into a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place on July 17, 2025, has concluded with no charges being filed against the officer involved. The incident occurred in the area of Garza Way and Potomac Mills Circle in Woodbridge VA.
According to police, the man, identified as Harrison Charles Deppe, 52, of Woodbridge, was wanted in connection with a previous brandishing incident on Colchester Rd. He was also reportedly involved in another similar confrontation earlier that same day on Birchdale Ave.
When officers located Deppe in a vehicle near the Potomac Mills shopping complex, they attempted hours of negotiation for a peaceful surrender. However, Deppe exited the vehicle and ran toward the mall with a crossbow, prompting officers to open fire, fatally wounding him. No other individuals were harmed during the event.
The regional Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) conducted a thorough investigation, which was reviewed by Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, who decided no charges were warranted. The case will now undergo an internal administrative and policy review by the Prince William County Police Department.
