Jose Marvin Martinez, 33, of Manassas, was arrested on February 3 following a January 21 hit-and-run that escalated into an alleged attempted malicious wounding. The incident began when a 40-year-old man’s vehicle was struck from behind at a red light. The suspect then reportedly drove through the red light and was followed by the victim to Ashton Ave and Crestwood Dr.
After both vehicles stopped, Martinez allegedly struck the victim with his car and fled on foot. A dog inside Martinez’s vehicle escaped and ran into traffic, possibly getting struck. Officers found empty beer cans and an ID inside the abandoned vehicle. Martinez now faces multiple charges including attempted malicious wounding, DUI (4th offense in 10 years), hit & run, animal cruelty, and driving on a suspended license.
