A Woodbridge woman has been arrested following an incident that left a hospital security guard with minor injuries.
Officers responded to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center to investigate a disorderly individual. Police say the accused was acting erratically and locked herself inside a bathroom. When a security guard attempted to open the door, the woman allegedly stabbed the guard in the hand with a sharp instrument as the door opened.
The accused was taken into custody for a medical evaluation. While in custody, she reportedly became agitated and threw water at an officer.

Jessica Clare Smallfield, 40, of Woodbridge
She is charged with malicious wounding and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. Her court date is pending, and bond was set at $1,000 unsecured.
