Officer-Involved Shooting in Woodbridge: No Charges Filed Against Officers

Location: Woodbridge, VA
Time: March 14, 2025

The Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney has determined that no charges will be filed against the officers involved in the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Gabriel Rene Ramirez. The incident occurred on August 1, 2024, in the 3000 block of Bromley Court in Woodbridge.

Police initially responded to a report of a suicidal individual armed with a handgun. Despite hours of crisis negotiation efforts, Ramirez pointed his firearm toward officers and nearby homes, prompting a SWAT officer to fire a single round. Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation, conducted by the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), found the shooting was legally justified. The case will now undergo an internal administrative review by the Prince William County Police Department.
