A Manassas woman has been charged after police say a firearm accidentally discharged inside her home and struck a neighboring residence.
According to Prince William County police, officers responded to the 10900 block of Wild Ginger Circle after receiving a report of shots fired. The investigation determined that the woman was cleaning her residence when a firearm fell from a piece of furniture and discharged.
The round struck a neighboring home, but no one was injured and no additional property damage was reported.
Following the investigation, Jacky Stephany Romero Martinez, 26, of Manassas, was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. She was released on a court summons and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The charge is an allegation, and Romero Martinez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
