Prince William County Police have arrested a Woodbridge man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy earlier this month.
According to detectives, Damon Jamon Atwater, 25, of Woodbridge, was taken into custody on July 30 with assistance from the U.S. Marshals. He has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The charges stem from a July 5 shooting in the 16700 block of Blackjack Oak Lane, where officers found the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body in a parking lot. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim later died at a hospital. Investigators previously attempted to stop a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting, but the driver fled on foot after a pursuit.
Atwater is being held without bond while awaiting a pending court date. The investigation remains ongoing.
