A Facebook Marketplace transaction turned violent Tuesday when a 26-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint while attempting to sell jewelry.
The victim told Prince William County Police that he arranged to meet the buyer at the Potomac Ridge Apartments. During the exchange, the buyer pulled a gun, stole the jewelry, and fled the area with another man. No injuries were reported.
The suspects are described as black males in their early 20s. One was approximately 6 feet tall with a medium athletic build, wearing a blue surgical mask, black cap and hoodie, silver bracelet, and black Balenciaga Track Runner shoes. The second suspect was between 5’6″ and 5’8″, with a thin build and dressed entirely in black.
Police urge the public to use designated safe exchange zones and to remain vigilant during in-person online sales.
