An alarming encounter with three aggressive Rottweilers sent two residents and a police officer to medical care after a vicious animal complaint in Manassas VA. Officers responded to the 7500 block of Whitehall Drive around 8:43 AM on August 20 following reports of the dogs running loose and attacking people.

When officers arrived, they attempted to contain the animals. One of the dogs lunged at and bit an officer, prompting the officer to discharge their firearm. The shot struck one of the Rottweilers, which caused all three dogs to retreat.

Animal Control Officers and the dog owner arrived on scene shortly afterward. The injured dog was taken to a veterinarian and later humanely euthanized. The remaining two dogs were surrendered to Animal Control.

The officer and two bitten residents sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The dogs’ owner now faces charges for failing to license the animals and allowing them to roam freely. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
