A Woodbridge man wanted in connection with a domestic assault investigation dating back to 2024 has been arrested.
Wilson Salinas-Barrera, 34, was taken into custody on August 1 by Virginia State Police in Chesapeake. He is charged with strangulation and domestic assault and battery.
The charges stem from a June 29, 2024 incident in the 14400 block of Filarete Street. According to investigators, Salinas-Barrera and a 25-year-old woman became involved in a verbal argument that escalated into violence. Police said he struck and kicked the victim multiple times before grabbing her by the neck. The victim suffered minor injuries, and the suspect fled before officers arrived.
After numerous unsuccessful attempts to locate him, authorities arrested Salinas-Barrera more than two years later. His court date is pending.
