A Manassas driver was charged following a crash involving a scooter whose 74-year-old operator later died from his injuries.
Prince William County police said the driver of a 2022 Kia Forte was traveling on Aaron Lane toward Coverstone Drive when the vehicle entered the intersection directly in front of a rider operating a 2024 Honda Metropolitan scooter. The scooter struck the Kia.
The Kia driver was not injured. The 74-year-old scooter rider was transported to an area hospital and died on August 18 from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police identified the Kia driver as 47-year-old Jorge Valentin Diaz Ramirez of Manassas. He was charged on July 21 with failing to yield at a stop sign. His court date was pending, and he was released on a court summons.
