A 75-year-old man died after apparently suffering a medical emergency while driving on Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge on Wednesday evening.
Prince William County police responded to the area of Oakwood Drive and Old Bridge Road at 8:07 p.m. after receiving an initial report of a crash.
Investigators determined the man was driving a 2023 Toyota 4-Runner westbound on Old Bridge Road approaching Oakwood Drive when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole at a very low speed. The collision caused minor damage.
Police believe the driver suffered a medical emergency and became unconscious shortly before the vehicle left the roadway. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died.
Police said the crash does not appear to have contributed to the man’s death, and investigators found no signs of foul play.
