A Manassas man is facing multiple criminal charges after police determined a reported armed robbery was actually an accidental self-inflicted shooting.
Prince William County Police responded to a residence in the 10400 block of Bermuda Lane on June 30 after a man reported he had been robbed and shot in the hand by unknown suspects.
During the investigation, officers determined the reported robbery never occurred. Police said the man accidentally shot himself in the hand while handling a firearm inside the home.
Investigators also discovered two loaded firearms inside the residence that were unsecured and accessible to a child who was staying in the home.
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Jaydon Isaiah Aloumouati of Manassas, was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being arrested.
He is charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, reckless handling of a firearm, child neglect, two counts of allowing access to firearms by children, and filing a false police report. Aloumouati was held on a $7,000 secured bond pending a court appearance.
