A Springfield man has been charged following a crash in Nokesville that claimed the life of a 94-year-old driver.
According to Prince William County Police, the crash occurred on July 24 when a 2021 Freightliner M2 traveling northbound on Nokesville Road failed to stop for traffic waiting to turn left onto Fauquier Drive. Investigators said the truck crossed the center line into the southbound lane while attempting to slow down and collided with a 2010 Ford F-150.
The driver of the Ford was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries on July 26.
Following the investigation, police charged Corey Latel Heflin, 38, of Springfield, with reckless driving. He was released on a court summons, and a court date is pending.
Crash investigators continue to seek witnesses to the collision.
