Skill Game Crackdown Hits Centreville Road Strip

After months of quiet surveillance, Manassas Park Police moved in on Thursday, executing eight search warrants across the city in a coordinated effort to crack down on illegal gaming machines.

Police say the investigation began after two separate complaints raised red flags. From there, detectives conducted months of surveillance and collected evidence showing illegal “skill game” machines were in regular use.

The sweep happened on October 9 and targeted a mix of commercial addresses and residential properties. Six of the eight locations are clustered along Centreville Road—a busy commercial stretch in Manassas Park—suggesting that multiple businesses there may have been involved in the operation.

Here are the locations police searched:

  • 99 Manassas Drive

  • 8500 Centreville Road

  • 8501 Centreville Road

  • 8490 Centreville Road

  • 8466 Centreville Road

  • 8444 Centreville Road

  • 9103 Andrew Drive

  • 118 Kent Drive

According to the Manassas Park Police Department, evidence related to the use and operation of illegal gaming machines was found at all locations.

The machines in question are often referred to as “skill games”—devices that resemble slot machines but claim to include some element of player control. Virginia lawmakers banned them in 2021, though enforcement has been spotty and legal battles are still playing out.

This latest sweep suggests Manassas Park officials are taking a firmer stance.

Police have not announced any arrests yet, and the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with more information is urged to contact Detective Wheeler at 703-361-1136.
